Islamic Renaissance Party of Tajikistan
The Islamic Renaissance Party of Tajikistan (IRPT) is an Islamist political organization founded in 1991, advocating for Islamic principles within Tajikistan's political framework. It seeks to promote Islamic values, social justice, and democratic reforms. The party participated in Tajikistan’s civil war (1992-1997) and later gained legal status, but was banned in 2015, with members facing government repression. IRPT aims to integrate Islamic beliefs with modern governance; however, the Tajik government views it as a threat to secular stability, leading to ongoing conflict between political activism and state authority.
