Islamic Cultural Revolution
The Islamic Cultural Revolution in Iran, beginning in 1979, was a movement to reshape the country's cultural, educational, and social institutions according to Islamic principles. It aimed to replace Western influences and secular ideas with a form of governance rooted in Shia Islam, reinforcing religious values and authority. The revolution led to the closure of universities, purging of Westernized academics, and the reorganization of media and education to promote Islamic ideology, transforming Iran’s society and governance to align with the new Islamic republic’s religious and political ideals.
