Islamic burial
Islamic burial involves specific rites aimed at showing respect and dignity for the deceased. After death, the body is washed thoroughly (ghusl), wrapped in simple white cloth (kafan), and placed in a grave without a coffin if local laws permit. The funeral prayer (Salat al-Janazah) is performed collectively, seeking Allah’s mercy. The body is laid facing Mecca (Qibla), and burial is usually done promptly, preferably within 24 hours. These practices emphasize humility, equality in death, and the importance of community support while respecting Islamic beliefs about the afterlife.
