Ischemic injury

Ischemic injury occurs when blood flow to a part of the body, such as the heart or brain, is reduced or blocked. This limits oxygen and nutrients needed for cells to function properly. Without enough blood supply, cells can become injured or die, leading to tissue damage. In the heart, this can cause a heart attack; in the brain, it may result in a stroke. Ischemic injury can have serious consequences, but prompt treatment to restore blood flow can help minimize damage and improve outcomes.
