ischemic cardiomyopathy
Ischemic cardiomyopathy is a condition where the heart's ability to pump blood effectively is reduced due to damage caused by restricted blood flow to the heart muscle, often from narrowed or blocked arteries (coronary artery disease). This lack of sufficient oxygen and nutrients weakens the heart muscle over time, leading to weakened heart function and symptoms like fatigue, shortness of breath, and fluid retention. It is a common cause of heart failure and requires management of underlying artery disease, lifestyle changes, medications, or procedures to improve blood flow and support heart health.
