Iron and Steel Trades Confederation

The Iron and Steel Trades Confederation (ISTC) was a trade union representing workers involved in the iron and steel industries, primarily in the UK. It aimed to protect members’ rights, improve working conditions, and negotiate wages through collective bargaining. Established in the early 20th century, the ISTC played a significant role in advocating for workers in industrial sectors during a time of rapid economic change. In 2004, it merged with other unions to form Community, a broader union representing workers across various trades and sectors.
