Irish Home Rule

Irish Home Rule was a movement advocating for Ireland to govern its own domestic affairs while remaining part of the United Kingdom. Rooted in the 19th and early 20th centuries, it aimed to grant Ireland a separate parliament to handle issues like education and land, reducing dependence on Westminster. The movement reflected Irish desire for self-determination and autonomy, but faced opposition from those who wanted to keep Ireland fully integrated into Britain. Although Home Rule was partially enacted in 1914, its implementation was delayed by political conflicts, ultimately leading to the Irish War of Independence and the establishment of the Irish Free State.
