Irish Court System

Ireland’s court system is structured into several levels. The District Court handles minor civil and criminal cases, with judges and lay justices. Above that, Circuit Courts deal with more serious civil and criminal matters, hearing appeals from the District Court. The High Court is the main court for serious cases and appeals from lower courts, with broader jurisdiction, including constitutional matters. The Court of Appeal reviews decisions from the High Court and Circuit Court, while the Supreme Court is the highest, ruling on important constitutional issues and legal questions. Each court serves a distinct role in delivering justice and upholding the law.
