Irenaeus

Irenaeus was an influential early Christian bishop and theologian in the 2nd century, known for his efforts to defend and clarify Christian beliefs. He emphasized the importance of Church tradition and Scripture, arguing that Jesus Christ's teachings were consistent with God's plan revealed through the Bible. Irenaeus opposed false teachings and heresies of his time, particularly Gnosticism, by highlighting the unity of God's revelation and the physical reality of Jesus' incarnation. His most famous work, "Against Heresies," helped establish foundational Christian doctrine and the understanding of Christ’s true nature.
