Iraqi National Congress (INC)
The Iraqi National Congress (INC) is a political organization that was formed in the early 1990s to oppose Saddam Hussein's rule in Iraq. It aimed to unify diverse Iraqi opposition groups, promote democracy, and advocate for the removal of Saddam’s regime. Supported initially by the United States and other Western countries, the INC worked both inside and outside Iraq to coordinate efforts for regime change and to rebuild Iraq’s political system after Saddam’s overthrow in 2003. It played a significant role in shaping post-2003 Iraq politics but was also subject to criticism regarding its internal politics and effectiveness.
