Iraq Survey Group (ISG)

The Iraq Survey Group (ISG) was a team formed after the 2003 Iraq invasion to find and dismantle Iraq’s alleged weapons of mass destruction (WMDs). Its goal was to investigate whether Iraq possessed chemical, biological, or nuclear weapons, as claimed by the U.S. and allies. The ISG conducted extensive searches and inspections across Iraq but ultimately found no stockpiles of WMDs. The group’s findings influenced global understanding of Iraq’s security programs and played a role in shaping the legality and outcomes of the invasion.
