Ionian League

The Ionian League was a group of ancient Greek city-states located along the western coast of Asia Minor (modern Turkey) and nearby islands, around the 8th to 5th centuries BCE. They shared common cultural and religious practices, especially worship of the god Apollo, and often coordinated through leagues or alliances for mutual defense and collaboration. The league helped promote trade, shared knowledge, and collective identity among member cities, fostering a sense of regional unity. Over time, the league played a significant role in the political and cultural developments of Ionia, influencing broader Greek history and the spread of Greek civilization.
