Ionian Historians

Ionian Historians were early Greek writers from the Ionian region, active around the 5th century BCE. They are regarded as some of the first to approach history analytically, emphasizing inquiry and evidence rather than myth. Notable figures like Herodotus, often called the "Father of History," and Thucydides, known for his detailed account of the Peloponnesian War, sought to understand and record events systematically. Their work laid the foundation for modern historiography by focusing on factual reporting, cause-and-effect analysis, and multiple perspectives, moving away from mythological explanations of history.
