involuntary detrusor contractions
Involuntary detrusor contractions occur when the muscle in the bladder wall (called the detrusor muscle) unexpectedly tightens without your intention to urinate. Normally, this muscle relaxes to store urine and contracts when you're ready to void. When these contractions happen prematurely or involuntarily, they can cause sudden urges to urinate or leakages, often leading to urinary incontinence. This condition can be due to nerve problems, bladder infections, or other underlying health issues, and it disrupts normal bladder control by causing the muscle to contract at inappropriate times.
