Invasive Lobular Carcinoma
Invasive Lobular Carcinoma (ILC) is a type of breast cancer that originates in the lobules, the milk-producing glands of the breast. Unlike some other cancers, ILC tends to grow in a linear, single-file pattern, making it more difficult to detect on physical exams and imaging. It can spread beyond the original site into surrounding tissues. ILC often occurs in women of all ages, commonly diagnosed at an early stage but can be more challenging to identify because it may not form a distinct lump. Treatment options typically include surgery, radiation, hormone therapy, and sometimes chemotherapy, depending on the stage and characteristics of the tumor.
