Invading species
Invasive species are plants, animals, or other organisms introduced to a new environment where they are not naturally found. They often arrive through human activity, such as shipping, trade, or travel. Once established, invasive species can spread rapidly, outcompeting native species for resources like food and space. This can disrupt ecosystems, harm local biodiversity, and sometimes cause economic or environmental damage. Not all non-native species become invasive; the key issue is those that reproduce quickly and lack natural predators in their new habitat, leading to significant ecological imbalances.
