Intrinsic Asthma
Intrinsic asthma is a type of asthma that occurs without a clear external trigger, such as allergens. Instead, it often develops in individuals who may not have a history of allergic reactions. Factors like stress, exercise, cold air, or respiratory infections can provoke symptoms. Unlike extrinsic asthma, which is linked to allergens (like pollen or pet dander), intrinsic asthma is thought to result from an overactive immune response and sensitivity in the airways. Symptoms include wheezing, coughing, shortness of breath, and chest tightness, which can be managed with medication and lifestyle adjustments.
