intraventricular hemorrhage

Intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH) is bleeding that occurs inside the brain's ventricles, which are fluid-filled spaces that help circulate cerebrospinal fluid. This condition often results from blood vessel rupture, potentially caused by high blood pressure, brain injury, or other medical issues. IVH can disrupt the normal flow of cerebrospinal fluid, leading to increased pressure inside the skull and possible brain damage. It is most common in premature infants but can also affect adults, especially those with weakened blood vessels or bleeding disorders. Treatment focuses on managing symptoms, preventing complications, and addressing the underlying cause of the bleeding.
