Intrauterine Device Insertion

Intrauterine Device (IUD) insertion is a minor medical procedure where a healthcare provider places a small, T-shaped device inside the uterus to prevent pregnancy. Before insertion, a healthcare professional will perform an exam, and sometimes use a local anesthetic to minimize discomfort. The IUD is inserted through the cervix into the uterus, usually taking only a few minutes. Once in place, it can provide long-term birth control ranging from 3 to 10 years, depending on the type. The procedure is safe, effective, and can be reversed if you decide to try to conceive later.
