Intradermal testing
Intradermal testing is a medical procedure used to identify allergic reactions. A small amount of an allergen is injected just beneath the skin's surface using a tiny needle. The healthcare provider then observes the area for signs of an allergic response, such as swelling or redness, usually within 15-20 minutes. This test helps determine specific allergies, including those to foods, insect stings, or environmental factors, by seeing how your immune system reacts to these substances in a controlled, safe manner.
