Interstitial nephritis

Interstitial nephritis is a condition where the spaces between the kidney’s tiny filtering units (called tubules) become inflamed. This inflammation can disrupt kidney function, affecting how well the kidneys filter blood and produce urine. It can be caused by medications, infections, or autoimmune diseases. Symptoms may include back pain, fever, and changes in urine such as blood or it being cloudy. Treatment depends on the cause, often involving stopping certain medications or using medications to reduce inflammation. If untreated, it can lead to kidney damage or failure.
