Interstate Nurse Licensure
Interstate Nurse Licensure allows registered nurses to practice in multiple states without obtaining separate licenses for each. Through agreements like the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC), a nurse licensed in one member state can provide nursing services in other participating states electronically, in-person, or through telehealth, as long as they meet individual state requirements. This streamlines mobility, reduces administrative hurdles, and enhances access to care, especially in emergencies or rural areas. However, nurses must adhere to each state’s regulations and may need to notify licensing boards when practicing across state lines.
