interspecific mimicry
Interspecific mimicry occurs when one species evolves to resemble another species, typically for protection or advantage. This often involves harmless or less-threatening species mimicking dangerous, toxic, or unpalatable ones to avoid predators—this is known as Batesian mimicry. Alternatively, two or more harmful species may evolve similar appearances to reinforce predator caution, called Müllerian mimicry. Essentially, in interspecific mimicry, different species "copy" each other's appearance to improve their chances of survival, leveraging the recognition or avoidance behaviors of predators.
