Intersexuality
Intersexuality refers to a variation in biological sex characteristics—such as chromosomes, reproductive organs, or hormones—that do not fit typical definitions of male or female. People who are intersex may be born with these natural differences, which can manifest in many ways, like different combinations of chromosomes or physical features. Intersex traits are a natural part of human diversity and are not indicative of a person’s gender identity or orientation. Recognizing intersex as a variation helps promote understanding, acceptance, and support for individuals with diverse biological characteristics.
