Intersectionnalité

Intersectionality is a concept that explains how different social identities—such as race, gender, class, and sexuality—interact to shape a person’s experience of privilege or discrimination. It recognizes that these identities are interconnected, and that someone’s disadvantages or advantages can’t be fully understood by looking at a single aspect alone. For example, a Black woman might face challenges unique to her combined identities that aren’t just the sum of racism and sexism. Intersectionality helps us see the complexity of social inequalities and the ways they overlap.
