Intersectionality of Identity
Intersectionality of identity refers to the ways various social categories—such as race, gender, class, sexuality, and age—interact and shape individual experiences and identities. In the context of memory and identity, it recognizes that our past experiences are influenced by these overlapping identities. For example, a person's memories and sense of self are not shaped by just one aspect of their identity but by the interplay of all their social identities. This lens helps us understand how different forms of discrimination and privilege can intersect, leading to unique experiences and challenges for each individual.
