Interregnum
An interregnum is a period of temporary absence of a ruler or leader, often occurring between the end of one leadership term and the beginning of another. It can happen when a monarch, president, or other authority leaves office unexpectedly, and no successor is yet in place. During this time, governance may be uncertain, and interim officials may manage affairs. Interregnums occur in monarchies, republics, or organizations and can vary in length, impacting stability and decision-making until new leadership is established.
