Interneuron
An interneuron is a type of nerve cell located within the central nervous system, acting as a communication bridge between sensory neurons (which detect stimuli) and motor neurons (which control muscles). Interneurons process and integrate information, allowing for complex reflexes, thoughts, and behaviors. They analyze signals received, make decisions or modifications, and then pass relevant information onward. Essentially, they enable the brain and spinal cord to interpret sensory input, coordinate responses, and perform higher functions like reasoning and learning.
