International Ozone Treaty

The International Ozone Treaty, formally known as the Montreal Protocol, is an agreement made by countries worldwide to protect the ozone layer, which shields us from harmful ultraviolet radiation. The treaty specifically aims to reduce and eventually eliminate the use of chemicals called ozone-depleting substances (like CFCs found in refrigerants and aerosols). Since its adoption in 1987, the treaty has been successful in phasing out many of these substances, helping the ozone layer recover. It's a key example of global cooperation to address environmental issues that affect everyone's health and the planet's balance.
