International Meteorological Organization

The International Meteorological Organization (IMO) was established in 1873 as the first global body dedicated to coordinating weather and climate observations. Its goal is to improve understanding of atmospheric conditions worldwide by promoting standardized data collection, sharing, and research among countries. This collaboration helps in more accurate weather forecasting, climate monitoring, and disaster prevention. The IMO laid the foundation for modern meteorological organizations and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), which continues its mission today, fostering international cooperation to better understand and respond to Earth's weather and climate challenges.
