International Maritime Labor Convention

The International Maritime Labour Convention (IMLC), established by the International Labour Organization (ILO), sets global standards to improve the working and living conditions of seafarers. It covers aspects like fair wages, safe working environments, reasonable working hours, health care, and social protection. The goal is to ensure that those working at sea are treated fairly, work safely, and have access to support, regardless of their country. Countries that ratify the Convention adopt these standards into their laws, promoting safer, more equitable, and more sustainable maritime labor practices worldwide.
