International Mandate Commission
The International Mandate Commission was a group established after World War I to oversee and protect the interests of people living in territories transferred from defeated nations, particularly in the Middle East and Africa. These territories, called mandates, were not independent but were assigned to advanced nations to administer on behalf of the League of Nations. The Commission ensured that the administering countries followed principles of good governance, protected local populations, and promoted development. Essentially, it acted as an overseeing body to balance the ambitions of colonial powers with the rights and well-being of the people in these territories.
