International Football Association Board (IFAB)

The International Football Association Board (IFAB) is the organization responsible for overseeing the rules of football (soccer). Established in 1886, it ensures that the Laws of the Game are consistent and fair worldwide. IFAB consists of four representatives from FIFA (the global governing body for football) and one each from the football associations of England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. The board meets annually to discuss and approve changes to the rules, adapting the game to modern needs while preserving its traditions. Their role is crucial in maintaining a standard for how the game is played globally.
