International Federation for Documentation (IFD)

The International Federation for Documentation (IFD) was a global organization established in 1925 to promote standards and best practices in managing information and documentation. Its goal was to improve how knowledge is organized, stored, and accessed across different countries and institutions. IFD worked to develop shared guidelines for libraries, archives, and information systems, fostering international cooperation in the field of documentation. In 1965, it evolved into the International Federation for Library and Information Science (IFLA), continuing its mission to enhance global information sharing and library services.
