International Fair Trade Association (IFAT)

The International Fair Trade Association (IFAT) was an organization formed in 1989 to promote fair and equitable trading practices between producers in developing countries and consumers worldwide. It aimed to ensure that farmers and artisans received fair prices, worked under decent conditions, and gained access to international markets. By partnering with various fair trade organizations, IFAT helped support sustainable development, social justice, and economic empowerment for marginalized communities. In 2004, IFAT merged with other organizations to form Fairtrade International, which continues its mission of promoting fair trade principles globally.
