International Double Reed Society
The International Double Reed Society (IDRS) is a global organization dedicated to supporting and promoting the interests of musicians who play double reed instruments, primarily the oboe and bassoon. Founded in 1972, it provides resources, education, and networking opportunities for players, teachers, students, and manufacturers. The society hosts conferences, workshops, and performances to foster skill development, share research, and advance the double reed community. Through these activities, IDRS helps preserve and promote the artistry of double reed playing while encouraging collaboration and innovation within the field.
