International Confederation of Trade Unions (ICFTU)

The International Confederation of Free Trade Unions (ICFTU) was an organization founded in 1949 that united independent and democratic trade unions worldwide. Its main goal was to promote workers’ rights, improve working conditions, and advocate for fair labor practices globally. The ICFTU worked with governments, organizations, and workers’ groups to fight against injustice, oppression, and discrimination in the workplace. In 2006, it merged into the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), which continues its mission today, representing millions of workers across diverse industries and countries.
