Inter-German relations

Inter-German relations refer to the diplomatic, economic, and cultural interactions between Germany's two historical states: West Germany (FRG) and East Germany (GDR), from 1949 to 1990. During the Cold War, these relations were characterized by political division, with West Germany aligned with Western Europe and the U.S., and East Germany linked to the Soviet Union. Despite separation, there were areas of cooperation, especially in trade and family ties. Eventually, growing pressures and negotiations led to reunification in 1990, ending the division and establishing a single, unified German nation.
