Inter-American Treaty

The Inter-American Treaty of Reciprocal Assistance, also called the Rio Treaty, is a mutual defense agreement among many countries in the Americas. Signed in 1947, it states that if one member country is attacked, the others will come to its defense, similar to NATO in Europe. The treaty aims to promote regional security and solidarity, ensuring that member nations support each other in times of external aggression. It primarily reflects a commitment to peace and collective defense, helping to deter potential threats and maintain stability across the Americas.
