Intentionality in linguistics refers to the property of language where words and sentences are used to represent or refer to specific objects, ideas, or states of affairs in the world. It is the connection between language and meaning—how speakers convey their intentions, thoughts, or beliefs through communication. For example, when someone says, "The cat is on the mat," they intend to convey a particular scene.
