Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC)
Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC) is an advanced power generation technology that converts coal or other carbon-based fuels into synthetic gas (syngas) through a process called gasification. The syngas is then cleaned of impurities and used to produce electricity in a gas turbine. The waste heat from the turbine is captured to generate additional electricity with a steam turbine, improving efficiency. IGCC systems offer cleaner emissions and better fuel efficiency compared to traditional coal plants, making them a more environmentally-friendly option for producing electricity from fossil fuels.
