Intaglio printing
Intaglio printing is a process where an image is carved or etched into a metal plate, creating recessed lines or areas. Ink is applied over the plate and wiped clean from the surface, leaving ink only in the incised lines. When the plate is pressed onto paper under high pressure, the ink in the carved areas transfers, producing a detailed and often richly textured image. This method is commonly used for printing banknotes, fine art prints, and high-quality intaglio engravings due to its ability to produce sharp, intricate lines and tonal variations.
