Intaglio

Intaglio is a printmaking process where an image is carved or etched into a metal plate. Ink is applied to the plate and then wiped clean from the surface, leaving ink only in the engraved lines. When the plate is pressed onto paper under high pressure, the ink from the recessed lines transfers, creating a detailed print.
