Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADL)

Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs) are tasks that support an individual's independence and ability to live on their own. These include activities such as managing finances, handling household chores, preparing meals, shopping for groceries, using transportation, managing medications, and communicating via phone or other devices. Assessing IADLs helps determine a person's functional capability and whether they need assistance to maintain their independence safely. These activities are more complex than basic self-care tasks like bathing or dressing and typically require good organizational and decision-making skills.
