Insect biology

Insect biology studies the structure, function, and behavior of insects, the most diverse group of animals on Earth. Insects have a segmented body with three main parts: head, thorax, and abdomen, along with six legs and often wings. They perform vital ecological roles such as pollination, decomposition, and serving as food for many species. Insects breathe through tiny openings called spiracles and have a hard exoskeleton that provides support and protection. They undergo various development stages, including complete metamorphosis (like butterflies) and gradual changes (like grasshoppers). Understanding insect biology helps in agriculture, ecosystem management, and disease control.
