INMOS

INMOS was a British semiconductor company founded in the 1970s, best known for developing the pioneering transputer. The transputer was an innovative type of microprocessor designed to facilitate parallel computing by enabling multiple processors to work together efficiently. This architecture aimed to accelerate complex computations and improve performance in applications like scientific research and industrial processes. Although INMOS itself eventually was acquired and its products phased out, the transputer's ideas influenced modern parallel processing and multi-core processor development, contributing to the evolution of high-performance computing systems.
