Inland waters
Inland waters refer to all the freshwater bodies located within a country's borders, excluding coastal and oceanic areas. This includes lakes, rivers, streams, ponds, and reservoirs. These waters are vital for providing water for drinking, agriculture, industry, and supporting ecosystems. They also serve for transportation, recreation, and energy generation. Unlike seas and oceans, inland waters are contained within land boundaries and often have unique ecological characteristics, making their preservation important for environmental health and human livelihood.
