Ingenuity helicopter
Ingenuity is a small, lightweight helicopter that was sent to Mars to demonstrate powered flight in another planet's thin atmosphere. It has a rotor system that spins rapidly—about 2,400 rotations per minute—to generate lift, allowing it to hover and fly short distances. Unlike traditional helicopters, Ingenuity doesn’t have a heat engine; it runs on batteries charged by solar panels. Its successful flights provide valuable data on flying in Mars’ low-pressure environment, paving the way for future aerial exploration and helping scientists study the planet’s surface from above.
