Influenza C virus is a type of flu virus that primarily causes mild respiratory illnesses in humans. Unlike the more common influenza A and B viruses, it infects people less frequently and usually results in less severe symptoms, such as a cough, sore throat, or mild fever. It spreads easily through respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs or sneezes. Although it can cause illness, influenza C generally doesn’t lead to serious health problems.
