Inez Beverly Prosser

Inez Beverly Prosser was a pioneering African American psychologist and educator who studied the experiences of Black children in school. She emphasized the importance of culturally responsive teaching and believed that positive school environments could help Black children develop healthy self-esteem and identity. Her research challenged stereotypes and highlighted how segregation in education affected Black students’ well-being.
